I have managed to find time to get back to this project and round 3 of the separate round version is finished.
I am still patiently and slowly undoing the other version back to the mistake so that I can achieve my aim of working it with no joins.  I can only do a little at a time as it is very titing to my eyes

This is the second round of the motif that I am working in separate rounds.  I like this colourway much more than the other one

OOPS

Here I am happily working on round three of the "all in one pass" version and I have to join to a picot that isn't there!! Can you see the arrow pointing to a chain with 4 picots instead of five.  I can't quite decide what to do.  I could cut it off at the mistake, or I could try to cut out a small section and put in a "patch" but neither of this would fit in with the plan of completing the mat in one pass.  Maybe I  will just undo it stitch by stitch.  I think I will put it away for a few days and get on with the other version while I think about the problem

This is the version of the mat that I am working in one pass.  The thread is still Lizbeth 40 but the colour is Cotton Candy. I am now working on the second round and i have only had to go back a couple of times when I forgot about the frontside/backside tatting

My first blog

Hi

I have decided to set up a blog about my tatting.  I have a very busy life with a lot of commitments and also a lot of other hobbies so maybe I won't post very often.  I have been motivated to start the blog to share my tatting of Jon's tat-a-long.

This is the first round worked in Lizbeth 40 Grape Swirl.
When I had cut and tied the ends I was not sure that I really wanted to do it that way!!
So I have decided to do two versions: one in separate rounds and one climbing out of rounds and with frontside backside tatting.  I find this very hard because I learned to tat as a child and had been tatting for 50 years before I discovered frontside backside tatting on the internet.  My brain knows what I have to do but my fingers rush ahead and do things the way they have always done them
